I spent Super Bowl Sunday afternoon with a terrific family from our church and their highly intelligent son, David, who is barely out of college. He’s soft-spoken, a musician and an historian. He’s also a little too tormented for someone his tender young age! Tormented because he knows too much; too much about people, people who expect us to trust them. My young friend knows about their lies, their greed and endless corruption. I consider myself pretty well-informed, but he showed me stories I had not yet heard anything about. And I think he would have kept going…for days, if I hadn’t stopped him! I learned about Bayer Corporation dumping AIDS tainted drugs into the foreign market killing thousands of hemophiliac children—and the FDA knew about it—and I learned about a beautiful young college cheerleader who developed a horrible neurological disorder 10 hours after taking the H1N1 vaccine, and I learned about a scheme in which a bank is making millions by bidding ridiculously low amounts at auctions on foreclosed homes, then claiming a “loss” and collecting TARP monies, then selling the homes for a triple profit… Then I had to just throw up my hands –or just throw up!—and say, “STOP!” You have to stop or my head is going to explode!” You see I already knew about the lies of the Health Care Bill and Cap and Trade and Obama receiving a scholarship only given to foreign students and our pathetic lying liberal media not caring and the federalizing of our National Guard and Mark Kirk and his TARP money trail and the vicious lies and name-calling of us and our movement and so much more! And my head was already swimming and still there’s more…and it keeps coming and it is endless! So I ordered it to stop, though I have no power to stop it in reality I can at least stop from putting it in my head! Part of me felt so guilty for it, because I am always preaching that we cannot stick our heads in the sand! Sitting idly by and watching things happen that we KNEW were wrong has gotten us into the mess we are in! And then I gave this young man some advice that I needed myself. We were not meant to be handle it all. That’s His job…God’s that is…not ours. Strange that sometimes we have to tell ourselves that we’re not Him. You think we’d have an instinct about that sort of thing. So I am doing what I told this young man to do and what I tell my kids to do all the time. I am picking my battles carefully. I cannot save the world. Not only am I incapable to do it but it is not my job to do so, and I have kids, friends, family, my church, all who need me too. And while I will never put my head in the sand, sometimes I have to put my hands up and say, “Stop! I am not God!” (Just in case my kids were wondering…yeah right!!)

I don't know about the rest of you, but it has done my heart good to see the senior citizens and veterans standing up to Senators across the country demanding to be heard on the health care bill! Seriously, it brings tears to my eyes and hope to my heart!

As of today Heart of Illinois 9/12 has existed for 56 days. In that time we have accomplished a lot more than you might think. I combed through our forum, email digests and meeting notes and came up with a list of the things we have accomplished in this very short period of time. We’ve given nearly $400 in cash to needy families in the Peoria area in the name of 9/12.We’ve grown from 156 to 251 members, which is 61% growth in membership. We’re built and developed our own website with 179 usersThe Pekin group sponsored a voter’s open forum with Pekin City Council candidates before April’s elections. The Peoria Chapter held an open forum with a potential Illinois State Senatorial candidate. We provided 2 of the 6 speakers at the Springfield Tax Day Tea Party—the best 2 of the day, in fact—and 28 of the 2000 plus attendees on the steps of the Capitol. The Peoria Chapter organized the Peoria Tea Party, which over 1000 people attended. Three of our organizers have become regular guests on WMBD talk radio where the message of 9/12 is spread almost weekly. READ MORE BY CLICKING LINK BELOW

Today a small group of 9/12 Youth met out in Chillicothe to box up personal items and snack foods for the troops serving overseas. Hannah, age 14, and Rachel, age 13, along with Lorie, Lindsay, Sheila and Shannon, packed 14 boxes to go to 4 different companies in Iraq. The items were donated by 9/12 members at the picnic in May and also members of Faith Christian Center Church in East Peoria. Enough cash was donated to ship 14 boxes--$170--but when those boxes were full, there was still a truck load of items left over! Some of the items donated were brand new cotton socks and T-shirts, granola bars, hard candy, deodorant, razors, READ MORE BY CLICKING LINK BELOW

Is it just me or do others in our group wonder if what's happening to our country is part of some over-arching scheme being orchestrated by dark forces? We have had discussions on the other site about "end times" prophecies and...I won't even type it in here for fear of being labeled a "right wing extremist"--oh wait, I already have been--well, anyway, don't want to give too much material to the opposition...but it involves a global governing body. Certainly you can see how Christianity is under attack more so than any other religion. Why is Christianity despised so much? What adversarial entity would or could stir such vitriol over harmless beliefs centered around the concept of love? I don't know much about "end times," nor do I particularly want to spend a lot of time studying it because, as they say, when it's our time to go, it's our time to go! But I do find myself wondering what other members are thinking and if the scriptures address what is happening to us. I am interested in starting a Bible study to specifically study Christians and what our role ought to be in times like these. Are we taking up the spiritual fight as much as the political? How political CAN we be without compromising our faith? I am researching materials on this subject now and there are some excellent books written concerning this. If you are interested in this topic--and have a big living room to meet in!--message me and we'll talk!
